I doubt that Donald Trump has any idea how his communication style works. He likely just knows from experience that chaos achieves his desired effect. Trump uses nearly everything he says to engineer social chaos. His statements are fundamentally inconsistent. Some are believed to be completely false; others misdirect by airing spur-of-the-moment thoughts or immediate preoccupations. Frequently, they directly challenge or conflict with verified facts.

Few politicians in history have been able to survive this style of communications. Why does Trump get away with it? Because his communication technique induces Social Liquefaction.

People, corporations, foreign governments, and the press are utterly exhausted from trying to track the words coming out of his mouth. It is one wild goose chase after another.

Modern corporations seem to have quietly set aside his day-to-day statements, choosing instead to look strictly for long-term trends or actions. Businesses require a baseline of stability to move forward; in an unstable financial or consumer environment, making market predictions becomes impossible. To cope, they must look for concrete policy actions rather than endless, diverse rhetoric.

The public and the press would be wise to discount Trump's words and track his actions similarly. However, because the press values the high shock value that keeps audiences hanging on every word, an institutional shift toward tracking actions remains unlikely.
